About Me

I would say that my interest in business was first sparked thanks to my parents. Both of them are in the field of business. My father is a regional manager of a large consumer staples company and my mom is an accountant. As far back as I can remember, they would talk about the economy and business news that was happening around the world. As a young child I would listen to them and ask questions to help myself understand them. Since then my interest has blossomed further. I now keep a close watch on the business news around the world, I especially like to read about stock market news. 

I have also participated in a number of competitions and case events involving business. The most recent example of this was my participation in the LIBF competition in the UK. My favourite part of this competition was the mock stock market challenge. I found it very interesting learning how the stock market works and how to identify which companies will do better in the future and which will not. I want to pursue a business degree so that I can be better at doing this! With my free time I want to spend time hanging out with new friends that I have made at Rotman. I also want to take part in school activities and clubs. I am an avid piano player so would love to join up with people who play music in their spare time. I also love  talking and debate so would be interested in joining the debate club!

I would say that my family and friends would describe me as a chatterbox. I am very talkative and outgoing. I love walking into a room and going up to the first person that I’ve never met before and introducing myself. I like to make people feel welcomed and accepted. I also find talking to different people fascinating. Everyone has lived such different lives and its great to hear different people’s perspectives on things. 

For me personally, I am most proud of my ability to withstand adversity. I have a very thick skin and can handle setbacks and problems well. I do not get angry or frustrated when things do not go my way. Instead I take a deep breath and come up with solutions. I think that I am able to do this because I have an optimistic outlook on life and get most of my satisfaction from life through my relationships, so if some project at school or some issue I am having is causing me problems, I just think back to all the wonderful relationships and people in my life and that gives me the strength to move forward.

I believe that I will play a lubricant and glue role in the team with my unique strength after joining university. I can also act as a team leader when necessary and play a unique role in learning and research with my reliable logical analysis and language communication skills. If there are various kinds of competitions in the later stage, I can handle them calmly. I have participated in some international competitions, such as VEX Robot Competition, and served as team logistics and operator, with a sense of risk control. At the same time, I also participated in AMC and LIBF, which enabled me to exert my mathematical thinking and financial management consciousness. Of course, IF there are sports related activities, I am also willing to organize and help. When I was in high school, I was the school sports correspondent, and I was also one of the top three in the school sports meeting. In general, I can properly correct my position and always have a warm and positive heart to face all the challenges in the future.
